How to take beautiful travel photos with your phone
Taking beautiful travel photos using your phone camera is easier than ever before. With advancements in technology, phone cameras have become increasingly sophisticated, allowing you to capture stunning images of your travels without lugging around another camera. Here are some tips to help you take the best travel photos using your phone:
Clean your lens:
Before you start taking photos, make sure to clean your phone camera lens to avoid blurry or hazy images. You can use a microfiber cloth, your shirt or a tissue.
2. Use Natural Light:
Natural light can make a huge difference in your photos, so try to capture your shots during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset. Avoid taking photos during the middle of the day when the sun is at its highest, as this can create harsh shadows and overexposure.
3. Look for an interesting composition:
The easy way to do this is to find natural lines in the photo. For example, the rope on the bridge in the photo above is creating lines that move your eye into the frame. Also, try putting your subject off-center. This makes the photo more pleasing to the eye.
4. Use a tripod:
You can buy tripods for your phone that will help you take photos of yourself when no one is around (or when you donβt want to ask a stranger to take your photo). I got one off of Amazon and is also came with a remote to take the photo, You can use the self timer as well.
5. Use the wide angle setting:
Do you ever have trouble taking a photo of yourself at a crowded tourist location without getting people in the background? You can now fix that by using the wide angle setting. Open your camera app on your Iphone and at the bottom of the screen there is a 0.5x button. Press that button and it will zoom out.
6. Add natural elements:
I always love adding natural elements to my photos. I scooted over to have this cherry blossom tree in the frame of the MLK Monument. The tree brings in some color, foliage and a reference to what time of year the photo was taken. This was taken in March right when the cherry blossom trees were blooming.
7. Find a different perspective:
Donβt take a photo from the same spot everyone else is! Move around and find a different perspective, experiment with angles. Photograph from below or above your subject. Get creative and take a lot of photos to give you some options to choose from. This photo of the Lincoln Memorial is my favorite because of how stunning the lighting is.
8. Use Editing Apps
There are plenty of editing apps available to help you enhance your photos. Try using filters, adjusting brightness and contrast, or cropping your images to create a more professional-looking result.
By following these tips, you can take stunning travel photos using just your phone camera. So next time you plan an incredible trip, you can have incredible photos to go with it! Be sure to print your photos as well so they donβt just live on your phone. I love creating yearly photo albums with Shutterfly!
