Easy tips to live a sustainable and eco-friendly life
Living a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle has become a lot easier. There are so many new products we can buy that create less plastic waste and are toxic free. This was not the case 10 years ago. You couldn’t go into a Target or Walmart and find these brands. Consumers have taken it upon themselves to create companies that are mission-driven and compete against the large corporations. The best way to fight for our Earth is with your purchases. Everything you buy on a daily basis makes an impact on our Earth.
Here are some easy ways that I have added sustainable practices to my daily life over the past 5 years. Also, if you want to read more about sustainability practices, click the link below to dive into an article I was featured in on Rent.com.
An eco-friendly kitchen:
Swedish Dish Towels instead of paper towels
Recycled Sponge to clean dishes
Powdered dish detergent in a cardboard box (less plastic waste)
Reusable coffee filters or Keurig pods
Ridwell recycling for hard to recycle plastic
Blueland cleaning products that are refillable and non toxic (I just started to find these in my local grocery store)
Water/ Vinegar and Essential Oils for mopping, wiping surfaces and windows
An Eco-friendly bathroom:

An Eco-Friendly Closet:
Thrifted clothes and shoes (I shop at the Arc Thrift Store. It’s perfect for baby clothes, and I also find some great brands for my husband and I.)
Allbirds shoes made from eco-friendly materials
Clothing swaps with friends (I make this a fun event by doing a brunch at someone’s house)
Buy pieces that will last years, be more conscientious about my purchases
Recycle old clothing with Ridwell recycling
Bamboo sustainable underwear from Boody
An eco-friendly bedroom:
Bamboo sheets from Pure Bamboo (The softest, most breathable sheets EVER!)
Thrifted furniture from the Arc Thrift Store, Habitat for Humanity Restore and Facebook Marketplace
Thrifted baby gear (high chair, walker, crib, etc) These are very affordable on Facebook Marketplace
Thrifted kids toys from the Arc Thrift Store and Kids 2 Kids.

eco-friendly travel:
Stay at eco-lodges and boutique hotels such as Aqua Wellness Resort, Tribal Hotel, Green Bay Phu Quoc, and La Fortuna.
Take public transportation or shuttles when available.
Eat at local restaurants, shop at local markets
Do eco-friendly excursions such as hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and surfing.
other eco-friendly practices:
Wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets
Our electricity is connected to a solar farm, instead of getting solar panels. This is WAY more cost effective.
Xeriscape the front yard, got rid of grass and put native plants with mulch
Caring for our environment isn’t a difficult thing to do. I guarantee most of us are doing it daily already. If you practice thinking about how your daily actions hurt or benefit our Earth, then it will easily become a habit. I hope these tips are helpful in doing just that!
